Summer's Up :(
By
Kizetsu
on 8/15/2010
Well I'm back, although I'm currently still in Orlando on vacation, Once I get back I'll be around TSW more often again. It's been quite an eventful summer for me and yet I managed to finish and catch up on lots of anime.
Otakon 2010 I went to Otakon this year again, for 2 days instead of the full weekend though. It's pretty much the same every time. The only difference being the cosplayers. I didn't even bother with souvenirs. I think next year I'll make more effort to travel to other cons and see what they are like.
Anime I actually got quite alot completed and I'm kinda proud of it. I had to put most of the spring and summer anime on hold though, since I've been too busy to watch them. B Gata H Kei - Very entertaining from start to finish but I'd really like a second season. MAR - What a train wreck. I don't even know why I liked it all those years ago. The last half of the series was just terrible. Ichiban Ushiro no Daimou - Ok for what it was I guess. Nothing to be overly excited about. Arad Senki - Horrible, wish I could have my time back. Angel Beats - Really great series, but I honestly wasn't a fan of the final moments. It all just seemed too rush. Since it's a successful Key series my hopes for a second season might just come true though. Souja Erin - Although it got very predictable near the end, it was still a fun series to watch. There aren't very many anime where the main character ages and matures by the end, it really makes watching a fantasy show like this more enjoyable. Regios - So confusing! I'm sure a re-watch would clear things up a bit but I just don't have the time. The animation was great though. Nodame Cantabile - I'm only halfway through Paris-hen but I loved the first season. I'm really starting to enjoy these romance type anime, I wouldn't even consider watching shows like this before. Thankfully Kimi ni Todoke drew my attention toward them. Inazuma Eleven - Finally caught up to this. It was difficult since the group releases an extra 3+ episodes each week but I somehow managed to get on track. It's the best soccer anime and probably one of the best sports anime I've ever seen. It's basically "if prince of tennis were a soccer anime" but the characters are much more friendly. It's quickly become one of my favorite anime.
I still have a lot more to watch though but I'm glad I got to finish some of them. In any case, I'm back. There will be more AMV Spotlights up soon for those who are interested.

Add Journal Entry
By
Kizetsu
on 3/1/2010
Hey everyone. It's been awhile since I made a journal entry that's not about AMVs so I'm just going to talk about a few random thoughts I've been having. Can't wait for the spring season. I'm already swamped with anime but I just love when new seasons come around. K-ON! 2nd will be fun to watch, I just hope it's not a repeat of the first season. Hopefully we get more music, more concerts, and more Azu-nyan. Also series like Sarai-ya Goyou (really haven't seen a decent Samurai anime in awhile, looking forward to this), Senko no Night Raid (love spy anime, hoping this one goes over well), and a few others that look interesting. I'll be putting up a thread for all the new series, as I did for the winter season, for those of you who don't keep up with what's coming out when; but mainly just to discuss what everyone's most excited to see. The elimination game will be returning for the fall 2010 season, so look forward to that also. So many series, so little discussion. I love TSW but the forums can seem a little bland at times. Isn't there a series you want to spread the word about or just talk about how much you are enjoying? The majority of the series I get into are based on the thoughts and praise it gets from friends, forums, and unbiased media sites; I look into them, watch a few episodes, and decide whether I want to finish them. We have a handful of great discussion threads though, but I would just love to see people who don't post as much talking about series that might not be as popular. I would have missed so many good series had I not got the recommendation from other people. Whether you love it or hate it, let's talk about it. Some great examples of this are the Umi no Misaki, 11 Eyes, and Kekkaishi threads. Do you guys use EagleStorm's site? I admittedly have never used or visited it before 2010, but I'm starting to use it more and more; it's even bookmarked now. It's just great having the series ordered by air dates. I probably haven't visited before because I usually didn't care for when a series aired, since I just grab the sub releases, but it's becoming very important to me to keep up with these things. I also wouldn't know half of the series coming out this spring if not for his hard work. Everything I need to know is just all in one place, with links back to TSW to start tracking. Thanks for the great site Eagle. And last, most saddening bit of info is the inactivity of another fellow admin. T_Sarc88 lives in Chile and hasn't been online after word of the devastating earthquake became public. He's usually always on MSN for me to chat with but he hasn't been on since that day. There are power outages in the area, so I'm praying and hoping that's the minimal amount of turmoil the quake has caused him. Let's think positive thoughts and hope that he and his family are OK.

This video seriously makes me regret dropping Shikibane Hime. In fact I just might give it another try after seeing this. Video: Bakadance!
I like it. -------
Best First Video
Video: Clash
One of my favorite categories. Really great vid for a first try.

Sorry I've been so "absent" guys. Currently playing this new MMO called Dungeon Fighter Online: http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/ It's fun..grindy, but fun.
But now that I'm at a decent point in the game I can get ready for this new season of anime!! Researched most of the shows awhile back so I have a general idea of what's coming out. What are you guys most excited to see? Also, stay tuned for the Fall Anime Elimination Game!!!

Summer Anime
By
Kizetsu
on 8/11/2009
So...What are you guys still watching? Don't really like most of this season's anime. I'm only still following Canaan and Princess Lover. Tokyo Magnitude wasn't bad, it's just too depressing for a summer anime IMO. I'll probably end up finishing it when it's done though cause it's definitely one of the better series this summer. Is there anything else that's good? Maybe the first few episodes gave off a bad impression but it's actually a decent series? In the mean time I've been watching some older series. Saint Seiya from episode 1, Darker than Black, and Gintama mostly.
Fall season is almost here!! So many great series coming out.
Dead Fantasy V
By
Kizetsu
on 7/29/2009
This one definetely makes up for the lackluster of the previous 2. And the story is getting really interesting now. I'm glad he decided to make a story out of it instead of just random action. I don't think we'll see anymore for awhile though. My favs from best to worst: 2. 1. 5. 4. 3.
Dead Fantasy IV
By
Kizetsu
on 7/21/2009
I must say, although I didn't like 3, I kind of like where the story is going. The battle scene in this one was quite good as well. Still not as good as 1 and 2 though, we'll just have to wait and see.
Dead Fantasy III !!

So I finally sat down and got started on my AMV for the Otakon AMV contest this year. After spending weeks trying to find well seeded Black Lagoon raws, I just gave up and decided to use some subs. As soon as I do though, a friend informs me has has the raws, and he'll give me whatever I need. Luckily I had just started and didn't get very far. But instead of just deleting what I've already done, I decided to upload it as a preview and grab some opinions. It's a very rough start, just some timing with no effects. The clips don't last that long, they stop at about 40 seconds in but you're welcome to enjoy the music afterward( the song is awesome and i doubt most of you guys have heard it before). Leave a comment and let me know what you guys think so far. Title: Revy Don't Stop (Preview) Maker: Kizetsu Anime: Black Lagoon Song: Butterfly by Back-On

Spring Anime: Week 1 Review
By
Kizetsu
on 4/6/2009
So many good series this season. Lots of promisng ones. Here's a mini review of the ones i've seen so far.
Phantom ~ Requiem for the Phantom
Basquash!
Definetely one of the keeprs from this season. Great animation and what looks like to be a great plot. It's made by the Macross Frontier team so I'm sure it'll turn out to be a really good series. Not quite sure on hte mechs though. Robots are fail.
Pandora Hearts
Sengoku Basara
Yukimura! Oyakata-sama! Rofl. Great first episode. I love the opening too. I just hope this anime takes itself seriously. I'll probably enjoy it even if it doesn't.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
So far, so good...I guess.
K-ON!
Needs more music, but defiently a solid first episode. I get the feeling episode 2 will set the tone for how the rest of hte series will play out.

Building a Better Community
By
Kizetsu
on 3/24/2009
What? Kiz has an actual journal post? No way!
Hello fellow TSW members. Let me just start out by saying, I really love this site. Thanks to all the hardwork of Chronos, Eagle Storm, and whoever else may be involved, I get to keep track of my anime as well as be involved in our great community here. But we can do so much better. One of the positive things we have here are the great journal entries. Nothing like reading how terrible someone else's day was to cheer you up when you're feeling down. (jk) But really, people like Crazyanimegirl and Kyu2000 who keep us updated on their projects and situations once or twice a week are really a plus for our community. And I'm not sure how many of you out there enjoy my AMV Spotlights or countdowns, but I love posting them. With the recent updates we even finally get to leave a comment. But I don't think it's enough. With some of the new features we have here at TSW (thanks to Chronos) we can start to take advatage of them to better our community. Here are just a few of the suggestions I have.
More Active Forum Post/Threads
I really love how the Bleach Manga and Naruto threads are turning into great discussions lately. Even the lurkers out there are starting to post more. If you have something to say or something you think will make a good discussion, don't be afraid to speak up or make a new thread about it. The forums are of course the basis of any community. Let's work to make ours better.
More Accurate Series Rating
Something even I am guilty of, is giving a random 1 or 5 Star rating to a series that doesn't deserve it. Being honest with how you rate each series will generate more accurate results for people wanting to know the best and worst of TSW's series.
Series Comments
Never doubt the power of opinion. Leaving a comment for each series you watch will be very helpful for those looking to get into the series. Maybe not all of them you've seen, but your favorites and your worst should do just fine. Compare them to other popular series if you want to let people know what they are getting themselves into. kaizoku7 has strayed me away from many series I would have ended up not liking.
Use the Tracking System
There have been plenty of times where I have found myself browsing a user's favorite and watched series. If you see a person who has similar viewing taste, being able to see what other series they enjoyed could be a big help if you're looking for something to watch or read.
There are lots of other little things we can do to keep our community active, but these were just the ones I found to be most important. Leave a comment and let me know what you guys think. Do you like the way TSW? Do you want it to be better? Are there thigns you don't like?

Kamen Rider DK Official Trailer

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight (Ryuki in Japan) This looks so amazing for an american production. One of the best things about it is that it was never properly subbed so it'll be all fresh material for me. Let's just hope the series is as good as the trailer. The last time USA tried a kamen rider it was a total disaster.

The only winner not up there is AMV Hell 4. It's way too big to be uploaded to a video site in a whole. It's hilarious though and I recommend you guys going to amvhell.com and downloading it and the previous ones if you haven't seen them. My personal favorites of these are "Magic Pad" of course and "Sunlight". Just finished watching Garo. I have never been more amazed in my life at how awesome it was. I'm ashamed to call myself a fan of any of the half-assed martial arts movies/tv shows here in America after seeing Garo. Came out in 2006, wonder why I didn't watch it then. If you're a fan of Toku and/or great martial arts I highly recommend this series. TV-Nihon did an awesome job subbing it too.
