Umineko no Naku Koro ni takes place in the year 1986, during the time frame of October 4 and October 5 on a secluded island named Rokkenjima (六軒島, Rokkenjima). The head of a wealthy family named Kinzo Ushiromiya, who lives on and owns Rokkenjima, is near death, and eight of his family members arrive on the island to discuss how Kinzo's assets will be divided once he is dead. Also on the island are three family members who live there, five of Kinzo's servants, and his personal physician. After the eight family members arrive, a typhoon traps them on the island and shortly after people start to get mysteriously murdered.

I'm still watching it, and confused as well, but even with [i]Higurashi no Naku Koro ni[/i] parts seemed non-linear. I guess we can hope for a sequel. There is one, but we will all have to wait and see if it is animated at some point. The name of the game is [i]Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru[/i]

So I finished it too. Was it supposed to be a cliffhanger or were my eps labeled incorrectly? Also I agree with most of you. I really watched to the end because it was so confusing. I just wanted to see how the real crime happened...which I didn't see. Son...I am dissapoint.

Although there are confusing parts, it's not that bad...well my opinion so um...if you can, just keep watching it till the end....and then say how bad is it. Just try to enjoy it.

god this is horrible! the first few eps were ok but then it went super steep down hill after that especially since there wer goat people and magic swords

This got really weird. I have no idea what's going on. All I know is, it's pretty bad that I'm only watching this anime because I like the opening/ending themes.
